1. You can come as you are. God loves you as you are not as you should be he loves your imperfections. We can be ourselves and walk our journey and find out who we truly are.
2. It is finished. Jesus took away the first to establish the second covenant. The New Covenant puts you in perfect standing with God even though you still arn't perfect.
3. Sins not the problem. Jesus was the offering to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself your sins and unrighteousness acts I will remember no more (Which ones all of them) sin was rendered powerless.
4. Law has no power. Jesus came to fulfil every bit of the law he came to abolish it.
5. Christ makes us righteous. We're in right standing with him because of his work. Stop trying to swim over the sea when there's a perfectly good ferry.
6. No condemnation. We can have a life blessed by grace because of the finished work of Christ.
7. We're not in trouble. We can never upset gods plans Gods work is water tight.
8. All is grace. Grace is outrageously unfair Grace declares we are winners before the game is over.
9. We're a messy church. We're all int the same boat, we're all broken and we have all sinned and fallen short. But jesus bridged the gap.
10. We're cracked pots. We're cracked pots let Jesus light shine through our imperfections. More light comes through a cracked pot than a perfect one.
11. Jesus shines through us.
12. We're accepted forgiven and loved. Don't miss the mystery. We are accepted forgiven and loved. Done!! You do not have to do anything for God to forgive you! its up to you whether you want to accept it. He's forgiven u so forgive yourself!
Romans 1:17- For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith."

New Covenant: The Twelve Days of Rock Church
Either live out an old covenant message and replace grace with works. Or say no and get to grips how it was really meant to be with full fat Grace. We are free don't get bound by the old religious law that is now old and ageing and will soon disappear. The knowledge of Christ and the good news of the gospel should inspire us to do more not less!

Chloe,
ReplyDeleteI respectfully disagree that the Law was abolished or that God is ok with our sin after we're saved.
Matthew 5:17-19 (KJV)
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
And sin is always a problem! Even though you are right that Yeshua/Jesus paid the penalty for our sin and our sins are forgiven, we still sin and God doesn't want us to.
1 John 3:6 (KJV)
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
Once it was fulfill. It could be abolished. The word used in Hebrews 8:13 is obsolete

Matthew 5:17 says that Yeshua/Jesus did not come to destroy the Law. Then He went on to say that the one who disobeys the least of the commandments or teaches men to do so will be called least in the kingdom of Heaven. Abolish as defined in Free Online Dictionary means to "destroy completely" or "to do away with, or annul." So if abolishing means destroying Yeshua/Jesus did not do that.
DeleteThis does not say basically because Jesus set you free you can do what you want, because if we truly believe in God and love Him we would want to act Christ like to others and not just do what we want. Even though when we do mess up he still loves us and fills the gap. But the purpose is to preach the message of God’s unconditional love and acceptance in spite of our mistakes, a message that in the past has been preached in a confusing cocktail mixed up with old covenant law, the very thing Jesus died for to set us free from. Achievements and obedience have been preached at the cost of GRACE, causing many of us to be robbed of our confidence before God, always feeling somewhat unworthy. We are here to take the free gift of Grace given by his love.
ReplyDeleteHe did get rid of the law for it says the law was useless and weak and is ageing and soon will disappear to establish the second
Paul called the Law "holy, just, and good" in Romans 7:12. Paul would never call the Law "weak and beggarly" (Gal. 4:9). Obviously, Paul is not referring to the Law.

ReplyDeleteHey Chloe. Thanks for the post. I think the 12 points listed here are unfortunately extremely one-sided, and would rather tend to promote complacency in the Christian walk than a striving after holiness.
ReplyDeleteOn that note of holiness, God requires us to be holy (1 Peter 1:16). Peter's exhortation here is that people must be holy, as our heavenly Father is holy. Why? Because God said "Be holy, because I am holy". What exactly does that holiness look like then? The ten commandments is a good place to start. Our holiness or obedience to any commandments certainly does not save us, but the law has a place. Without the law, we would never understand grace.
We must keep a balanced view of Scripture - a difficult task (in my opinion) indeed! But for example, the New Testament clearly teaches that we need to have a genuine repentance from sin. In order to have a genuine repentance from sin, we need conviction concerning our sinfulness and unworthiness before a holy, righteous and just God. The 12 points here hardly tell people that they need to repent. They hardly express a need for ANY change in a person whatsoever.
Yes, grace is astounding - particularly as we view how utterly sinful we are. Yes we are saved by grace ALONE through faith, so that we can never boast. It's all God's free gift to us - we must rejoice at that. But when we realise our sinfulness (by God's grace and the working of His spirit in our hearts throught the Word) it must result in a godly grief that produces repentance that leads to salvation. And then having been saved, we continue to strive for holiness as Paul did - pressing on towards the prize. There is nothing relaxed about this - particularly in the depraved world in which we live.
So my concern would be that this 12-point approach would unfortunately result in a complacency in people's lives - something that cannot form part of this spiritual battle that is raging against us.
Blessings - may the Lord be gracious to you as you continue to study His word and grow in your relationship with Him!
Do you have Skype so we discuss this

DeleteChloe, for the record I totally agree with you. But know that many many Christians have difficulty accepting the fact that we are in the period of Grace and no longer under the period of the Law.
ReplyDeleteWhat many of our brothers and sisters do, by clinging to the 10 Comandments are in fact belitteling the work of Christ and His Person... As as if we would say, "ya... He did die on the cross, but it is not enough for salvation... we need to do the right thing too..." and that is not so. You accept Christ, you receive the Holy Spirit, you are a New Creation and we can have joy in our Eternal Salvation and work by the Power of the Spirit to do good works... but it comes from HIM not us.
You are right... and don't be discouraged. Your understanding of Scriptures elevate the Person of Christ.
Thankyou
